PLANters Issues Nut Recall Over Listeria Risk

On May 3, Hormel Foods Sales, LLC issued a voluntary recall of two PLANTERS products due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. This recall was announced by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) on their website.

The affected products were manufactured at one of the company’s facilities in April and were distributed to Publix warehouses in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, and North Carolina, as well as Dollar Tree warehouses in South Carolina and Georgia. Hormel has informed all retailers, and the products in question have been removed from sale.

The recalled products include:

PLANTERS Honey Roasted Peanuts
4-ounce packages
UPC: 2900002097
Best-By Date: April 11, 2025

PLANTERS Deluxe Lightly Salted Mixed Nuts
8.75-ounce cans
UPC: 2900001621
Best-By Date: April 26, 2026

The UPC can be found on the side of the package, and the Best-By Date is located on the bottom of the can.

According to the FDA, Listeria is a bacterium that can cause severe illness or be fatal for young children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems. It can also lead to miscarriage and stillbirths. No illnesses related to this recall have been reported at this time.

What To Do If You Have the Recalled Products at Home

Check your pantry for the recalled PLANTERS items. Do not consume them. Dispose of the product or return it to the store for a replacement or full refund.
